More fires in Sicily amid heatwave and Scirocco winds, Alcamo on edge

Carabinieri, municipal police, firefighters, and forestry officers are on the scene for extinguishing operations. Many people have been evacuated as a precaution from their nearby homes, which are being kept under control by forestry officials and firefighters. Several firefighting vehicles are being used at the scene. Traffic is currently blocked. The cause of the fire is still being determined. Another fire near Trapani Birgi airport is also under control. The SS119 road in Alcamo is temporarily closed in both directions due to the fire, with detours in place. Carabinieri report that some residents have left their homes near the blaze.
