“Modica City that reads 2020-2021”, the Pact for Reading signed

The Municipality of Modica in July 2020 obtained the qualification of “City that law” for the two-year period 2020-2021 for the city section from 50,000 to 100,000 inhabitants by participating in the public notice of the Cepell (Center for books and reading), an autonomous institute of the Ministry of Cutura which promotes the dissemination of reading starting from childhood. Through the qualification of “City that reads” it is intended to recognize and support the socio-cultural growth of urban communities through the dissemination of reading as a recognized and shared value capable of influencing the quality of life. The city of Modica has also authorized the signing of a “Pact for reading” which provides for a citizen alliance and stable collaboration between public and private entities, libraries, publishing houses, bookshops, authors and readers, schools, cultural associations and volunteers, foundations and all the actors present in the area In this regard, the public notice and the adhesion form to the local pact for reading – City of Modica were approved and authorized by the administration, published on the municipality’s website in the Notices section with expiration on 30 April. The Pact is coordinated by the “Salvatore Quasimodo” Municipal Library and is open to all adhesions, including by individuals.
