Migrants, woman transferred by helicopter rescue to Agrigento; missing searches continue

A woman, in an advanced state of pregnancy, was transferred – last night – from the hotspot in the Imbriacola district of Lampedusa to the San Giovanni di Dio hospital in Agrigento. The transfer, with the 118 helicopter rescue, was done because the woman began to feel ill and could give birth in the next few hours.

For the third consecutive day, after the shipwreck that occurred between Lampedusa and the islet of Lampione, the search for any missing persons continues: 9, according to the testimonies collected by the police from the survivors; 10 according to Unicef. Surveys of the stretch of sea, where the boat overturned, which are still without any results. There were no landings during the night. The last landing – and it was the fourth of the day – of a small boat, with 12 Tunisians on board, blocked by the Guardia di Finanza patrol boat, was late last night.
