Messina woman condemned in appeal for spreading explicit images of her ex

The Court of Appeal in Messina overturned today the verdict of the first instance, sentencing a 51-year-old businesswoman from the Tyrrhenian area of Messina for disseminating explicit images of her former lover. The woman was convicted of defamation and received a six-month suspended sentence. According to the accusation, the woman induced the man to be photographed naked and then published the images on the Facebook walls of acquaintances and friends. She also distributed printed flyers featuring the man’s nude image along with captions directed at him. The manipulated images, according to the complaint, were accompanied by phrases alluding to entirely false accusations. The flyers were also sent to local political figures and the man’s family members.
