Mazara del Vallo enforces anti-wild partying ordinance: restrictions and prohibitions announced

After Trapani, here too in Mazara del Vallo the anti-wild nightlife ordinance has arrived. It was issued by the mayor, Salvatore Quinci, who has established, for the whole of 2024, some measures to avoid disorder and degradation in nightlife areas.

The ordinance includes two main measures, one related to the sale of alcoholic beverages and the other to noise emissions. Regarding the first, throughout the municipal territory, from 10:00 pm each day until 6:00 am the following day, the sale and administration – both fixed and itinerant, as well as possession and consumption in public places – of alcoholic and superalcoholic beverages, even if dispensed by automatic distributors, is prohibited. It is also prohibited, the ordinance continues, the sale from 10:00 pm each day until 6:00 am the following day, of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages in bottles and glass containers and cans by public establishments, commercial, artisanal takeaways, vending machines and Street Food. The prohibitions do not apply inside the premises and public spaces legitimately occupied by authorized catering establishments. The operators to whom the ban on the sale of alcoholic and superalcoholic beverages, the subject of this act, extends are the following: food and beverage dispensing activities, even temporarily; private clubs; artisanal activities; commercial activities; vending machines.

Regarding noise emissions, the ordinance provides that, subject to compliance with the absolute and differential noise limits provided by national and local regulations, the dissemination of music inside and outside public catering establishments for the supply of food and beverages of type a) and b) of Article 5 paragraph I of Law 25 August 1991, no. 287, both live and reproduced, is subject to the following time limits.

On the days of each week from Sunday to Thursday, including holidays and pre-holidays, the noise emissions must cease inexorably at 12:30 am the following day, and produced, however, in compliance with the absolute and differential limit values provided by law; on Fridays and Saturdays of each week, noise emissions must cease inexorably at 1:30 am the following day.

Special attention in the week of August goes from Monday 12 to Sunday 18 August 2024, noise emissions must cease inexorably at 2:00 am the following day. Except as provided above, it is prohibited, throughout the municipal territory, any type of musical diffusion both outdoors and indoors, by any means, every day of the week between 1:00 am and 7:00 am and in the time slot between 2:00 pm and 4:00 pm each day.
