The two presidents have a long history of friendship and political alignment. During their visit, they will attend the award ceremony for the winners of the “Presidents’ Award for Municipal Cooperation between Italy and Germany.” They will also visit the Castle of Maniace and the Greek Theater of Syracuse. The next day, they will visit the famous Villa Romana del Casale in Piazza Armerina, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The visit will conclude with a meeting between Mattarella and Steinmeier, followed by a press conference. Lastly, they will visit the Don Bosco 2000 refugee center, providing an opportunity for discussions on the hot topic of migration in Europe.
