Mattarella meets with German president in Syracuse and Piazza Armerina

Italian President Sergio Mattarella and German President Frank Walter Steinmeier are visiting the beauties of Ortigia and Piazza Armerina in Sicily for a series of joint initiatives aimed at strengthening the Italian-German partnership. The two presidents have a long history of friendship and political alignment. During their visit, they will attend the award ceremony for the winners of the “Presidents’ Award for Municipal Cooperation between Italy and Germany.” They will also visit the Castle of Maniace and the Greek Theater of Syracuse. The next day, they will visit the famous Villa Romana del Casale in Piazza Armerina, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The visit will conclude with a meeting between Mattarella and Steinmeier, followed by a press conference. Lastly, they will visit the Don Bosco 2000 refugee center, providing an opportunity for discussions on the hot topic of migration in Europe.
