Mario Brunello and the rediscovery of the violoncello piccolo in Monreale concert.

Renowned cellist Mario Brunello will be the guest star at the International Sacred Music Week in Monreale. Accompanied by the prestigious Accademia dell’Annunciata and director Riccardo Doni, the program will focus on the music of Bach and his son, Carl Emanuel Philipp. The concert will feature Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto No. 3 and Concerto in D major, as well as a reinterpretation of Steuart Pincombe and a transcription by Doni. Brunello, known for his authentic and passionate style, has collaborated with top orchestras and conductors worldwide. He will be performing on his prized Giovanni Paolo Maggini cello as well as his four-string “violoncello piccolo.” The concert is part of the festival promoted by the Regional Government of Sicily in collaboration with various cultural institutions. The week-long event has been highly successful, with sold-out performances every night. The concert will take place on October 21st in the stunning Monreale Cathedral.
