The Marineo poetry awards have been awarded. The special international prize, which the jury awards each year to a personality of notable cultural prestige, has been awarded to musician Marcello Pellitteri, one of the most well-known and appreciated drummers of his generation. The jury wanted to express the highest recognition to a son of Sicily who, with his talent, has captured the attention of the public, demonstrating to be a true protagonist. In the Italian language section, the first prize was awarded ex aequo to Luciana Salvucci and Anna Maria Tamburini for their respective poetry collections. Finalists in this category included Antonello Di Carlo, Alfonso Di Giorgio, Carla Malerba, Francesco Mormino, and Vincenzo Ursini. In the Sicilian language section, the first prize was awarded ex aequo to Serena Lao and Margherita Neri Novi. Finalists in this category included Nino Barone, Francesca Picciurro, Cinzia Pitingaro, and Maria Lucia Riccioli. Paolo Salomone won the first prize in the unpublished Sicilian language category. The jury also awarded the “Francesco Grisi” plaque to writer and journalist Giovanni Di Marco. The awards ceremony will take place on September 3 in Marineo, featuring artworks by Elio Corrao, Giuseppe Gargano, Antonino Liberto, Mario Lo Coco, Gery Scalzo, Giovanni Maria Tessari, and Giuseppe Tuccio. Additionally, there will be an exhibition by Togo and a musical performance by Faldini Eligio.
