Man threatens pedestrians, injures police officers; arrested in Catania
An arrested 31-year-old foreigner in Catania who was threatening passersby on Via Monserrato with a sharp metal object has been arrested by the police for violence, threats, resisting a public official, and causing injuries. The man, who is in Italy irregularly, also wounded some officers, who had to seek medical attention. To evade control, the man tried to flee but was caught after police officers on motorcycles surrounded the area. After the necessary procedures, in agreement with the prosecutor, the man was locked up in the Piazza Lanza prison at the disposal of the judicial authority, which then validated the arrest and ordered the measure of pretrial detention in prison.
