Man killed for refusing caporalato: seven requests for 30-year sentences

After a three-year trial, the prosecutor’s office has requested thirty years in prison for seven individuals accused of being part of a group that killed a Pakistani man who had defended the rights of his fellow countrymen from exploitation in the fields by the mafia. The victim, Adnan Siddique, was attacked in his home and fatally wounded with a screwdriver and two knives. Other proposed sentences range from 10 years and 7 months to 16 years and 7 months for various charges including mafia association, robbery, and exploitation.
