Mafia, a new informer in Catania reveals the secrets of drug trafficking.

#Catania
Men from the Mafia clan Cappello specializing in drug trafficking are trembling. And so are the Calabrian narcos who have flooded Catania with cocaine and marijuana for years. For the past two weeks, there has been a new collaborator who is revealing secrets related to his mafia group and the most lucrative drug dealing areas in Catania such as San Cristoforo in Via Piombai, Salette, Tondicello della Plaia, as well as Syracuse and Palermo. His name is Michele Vinciguerra, he is 56 years old, and he is known as “Curdunaro” in the city. He is entrusting the secrets of the clan he was a part of to the magistrates of the Etna Anti-Mafia District.

Vinciguerra has a long criminal record: being the leader of a Cappello clan group, he was convicted of mafia crimes in the Revenge operation. Released in December, he was arrested again during the “Kynara” operation ordered by the prosecution against a massive drug trafficking in the San Cristoforo neighborhood. Vinciguerra is not the only one who has decided to turn his back on the mafia: his son-in-law, Alberto Bassetta, also made the same decision to collaborate with the justice system. He was also imprisoned in the “Kynara” operation, along with his wife Maria Jessica Vinciguerra, who was arrested with the same charges as her husband and placed under house arrest to take care of their five young children. After their decision to collaborate, Bassetta and Vinciguerra were placed in isolation in prison, while Jessica Vinciguerra and her children were transferred to a protected community. The collaboration is considered to be in an advanced stage, although their entry into the witness protection program has not been decided yet.
