Lipari: Bulldozer removes mud, maritime connections restored

After yesterday’s wind storm (November 23rd), connections to and from the Aeolian Islands have resumed. Liberty Lines hydrofoils and Siremar ferries are traveling from Milazzo to Vulcano, Lipari, and Salina, while fast vehicles are traveling with some restrictions to the smaller islands. Meanwhile, the cleanup of the area has begun as the rough seas have deposited dirt, pebbles, and sand on the streets and squares. Marina Lunga, Marina Corta, Tenente Mariano Amendola, Canneto, and Acquacalda were among the most affected areas, with road flooding causing traffic problems. In Canneto, a bulldozer had to be used to remove a pond that had formed in Marina Garibaldi. Other cleanup efforts included removing pumice dirt that had invaded the road in Calandra. The smaller islands also experienced difficulties. Photo from notiziarioeolie.it.
