Investigation opened in Messina after death during gastroscopy

An investigation has been launched in Messina following the death of a woman during a gastroscopy. The incident occurred on August 24th when a 62-year-old patient died during the examination at a private specialist clinic. The woman’s husband has filed a complaint with the local police, prompting an investigation by the prosecutor’s office. The initial hypothesis is manslaughter, leading to the identification of two doctors as suspects in the case – a gastroenterologist and an anesthesiologist. The prosecutor’s office will now instruct a forensic pathologist to conduct an autopsy on the woman’s body.
