Investigation opened after Casteltermini woman loses her child in hospital at nine months pregnant

A couple from Casteltermini, Italy, has filed a complaint with the prosecutor’s office, alleging medical malpractice after the mother-to-be was not immediately examined when experiencing strong pains and contractions at the San Giovanni di Dio hospital in Agrigento. The couple claims that the baby’s heartbeat was only checked two hours later, revealing that it had stopped. The pregnancy was in its ninth month without any particular issues. The Agrigento prosecutor’s office has launched an investigation to determine any potential liability in the case.
