The Catania Prosecutor’s Office has issued a notice of conclusion of investigations against two 27-year-olds investigated for vehicular manslaughter in the death of 18-year-old university student Chiara Adorno, who was run over on November 7, 2023 by a scooter and then by a car while crossing the street on the ring road. The measure was signed by deputy prosecutor Fabio Scavone and deputy Fabio Salvatore Platania.

The two suspects were one driving a Honda Sh motorcycle and the other driving a Fiat Punto. From the investigations carried out, it seems that the young man driving the car at the time of the impact was distracted by his cell phone. The local police are investigating the case.

Chiara Adorno was born in Bolzano, where her family was living for work at the time, but then returned to Solarino, in the Siracusano area. After graduating from the Corbino Scientific High School in Syracuse, she moved to Catania where she enrolled in the Biology faculty at the university.

The condition of the 22-year-old Irish woman who was run over two days ago, also on the Catania ring road, by a Smart car, remains critical. The young woman is hospitalized with a reserved prognosis at the Policlinico. The driver of the car stopped to help her and tested negative for alcohol. According to an initial reconstruction, the young woman was jogging.
