Incident in Palagonia and Mineo, two prison officers killed: were attending patron’s celebration

A fatal accident occurred on highway 385 between Palagonia and Mineo resulting in the death of two prison officers. Two other individuals were injured, with one being airlifted to Cannizzaro Hospital in Catania and the other to Gravina in Caltagirone. The victims were in a car headed to Mineo to celebrate the patron saint. The mayor of the town has suspended all collateral events such as fireworks and a musical band, allowing only for religious festivities. The accident took place between a Lancia Delta and a Peugeot 208 on a straight section of road between Palagonia and Caltagirone.
