Incendi, Cocina: increased surveillance and patrols in three Sicilian provinces

The general director of the Sicilian Civil Protection, Salvo Cocina, has ordered the surveillance and patrolling of the high-risk areas of the provinces of Enna, Caltanissetta, and Catania due to the red alert issued for the risk of wildfires. The specialized firefighting volunteer organizations are required to actively monitor the territory for deterrence and prevention of fires, as well as to provide support and assistance to the firefighters and forest rangers. Other available associations should engage in preventive activities. In Enna, 20 out of 23 volunteer organizations are patrolling, while in Caltanissetta, 9 out of 10 organizations are operational. Current fires have been reported in Valdinoce Valguarnera in Enna, Military in Val di Catania, and two in the Caltagirone area. In Catania, 24 out of 30 Civil Protection volunteer teams with firefighting equipment and specialized personnel have promptly responded to the request for patrolling in the province.
