In Palermo, income support provided to families with convicts triggers 74 complaints

The finance police of the provincial command in Palermo have reported 74 individuals who, according to their investigations, have illegally benefited from the citizenship income. Using information from databases provided by INPS, in collaboration with the police force, the finance police conducted a detailed analysis to identify “at-risk” households, including individuals with previous convictions that disqualify them from receiving the benefit. They meticulously examined multiple sworn statements not only from the “convicted” individuals but also from their family members. This assessment led to the identification of 74 individuals who failed to disclose the presence of family members with previous convictions that would exclude them from receiving the citizenship income.
