In Gela sickness among the swimmers, but for the Greek mayor the sea is clean

“There is no pollution alarm, our sea is clean and the Ministry of Health also certifies it.” Thus the mayor of Gela Lucio Greco reassures the citizens after that, in the last hours, he has read and received many messages in which the people of Gela, worried and alarmed, asked for information about the state of health of the sea. A series of illnesses among swimmers would have occurred on the whole coast, not only in Gelese, some of which also led to hospitalization. The most common symptoms reported are patches on the skin, redness, nausea and vomiting. The mayor immediately took action to find out more and was amply reassured.

«I can say without fear of being denied – he continues – that the waters of our sea are clean and suitable for bathing, and this can also be seen from the .do website, which I invite everyone to visit. Eight points of our coast where sampling and analysis were carried out: west harbor refuge, Macchitella, west lantern, Lido Conchiglia, Manfria (2), Punta Secca and Roccazzelle. All gave an “excellent” result. The reason that has triggered these health problems, therefore, is not to be found in the sea water, which is healthy and wonderful. Let’s enjoy it! ».
