The wind is turning in favor of the Bellolampo landfill, pushing the flames that have been threatening the tanks since yesterday to the outside. A Canadair aircraft is finally about to arrive at the waste disposal plant, which has not been available until now. This intervention is essential to cool down the area and prevent the situation from becoming uncontrollable.

Waste disposal has not been interrupted at the landfill. The waste compactors in line have continued to dump garbage despite the fire. Since yesterday afternoon, the workers have been throwing tons of soil to extinguish the fires and contain the flames that have threatened the plant.

“We are managing a critical situation, hoping that in the next few hours, thanks to the aerial means, the situation can return to normal,” explains Rap (Risorse per l’Ambiente e la Pubblica Igiene). “Thanks to our workers, we have faced an emergency that could have caused problems in waste collection.”
