Illegal re-entry of migrants to Lampedusa, 161 arrests in one month

161 migrants were arrested in August by the Agrigento Mobile Squad for illegal re-entry because already expelled or unwanted. Simultaneously with the numerous landings in Lampedusa, the judicial repression activity entrusted to the Flying Squad and the financial police, with its two land and sea components, continued under the coordination of the chief prosecutor Luigi Patronaggio. “A very high number of arrests that put a strain on the judicial structures in the working period and that nevertheless, with the commendable commitment of all the operators in the world of justice, were all validated in full compliance with the defensive guarantees” – he commented the attorney Patronaggio -. Meanwhile, investigations are underway for aiding and abetting illegal immigration for the maxi landing of 538 migrants from Libya on 28 August. An excerpt of this investigation – the one dedicated to the discovery of the criminal organization that organized the maxi crossing – has passed to the DDA of Palermo and is the deputy prosecutor of Palermo Marzia Sabella, head of the department that deals with human trafficking, to deal with this portion of the file.
