Illegal connections and water theft reported in Licata

A 47-year-old man from Licata has been reported to the Prosecutor’s Office of Agrigento for aggravated water theft. The police discovered new unauthorized connections in the Gallo d’Oro district. The man damaged a Siciliacque well and diverted the flow into a small artificial reservoir, from where he used a motor pump to transfer the water to a larger reservoir. The equipment used was seized. Last July, it was revealed that an average of over 30 liters of water per second were being stolen along the Gela-Aragona pipeline in the Licata area, with peaks of 70 liters per second on weekends.
