I Cinquestelle oppose Palermo’s waste collection privatization

The 5 Star Movement (M5S) council group in the city of Palermo opposes the privatization of the waste management sector. They strongly reject Mayor Roberto Lagalla’s proposal and accuse him of wanting to dismantle essential public services such as waste management and the Palermo airport. The M5S councillors emphasize the importance of significant investments in public infrastructure through the Pnrr and Pon Metro funds. They state that public funds have been allocated to revitalize public facilities in Bellolampo and the urban waste and Rap sector, and they refuse to allow these facilities to be handed over to private entities. The regional coordinator of M5S, Nuccio Di Paola, criticizes the right-wing parties’ approach of privatizing everything and states that they will prevent this from happening.
