Historical train returns to the Valley of the Temples: Palermo to Agrigento itinerary unveiled

On the next weekend, September 16th and 17th, the historic train from Palermo to the Valley of the Temples in Agrigento will return, featuring ancient hundred-door carriages. The train will depart from Palermo Central station with stops at Bagheria, Termini Imerese, Roccapalumba – Alia, Aragona Caldare, and Agrigento Bassa stations. The train will then reach the “Temple of Vulcan” station, located in the heart of the Valley of the Temples, where passengers will have the opportunity to visit the enchanting Kolymbethra Garden accompanied by the guides of FAI – Italian Environment Fund. Those who choose to continue the journey to Porto Empedocle can reach the nineteenth-century Porto Empedocle Central station by train. The return train to Palermo will depart from Porto Empedocle Central station and Temple of Vulcan station, with arrival in Palermo. The schedule will be communicated in the upcoming days. This historic train program in Sicily includes 51 events on the most beautiful and scenic railway lines on the island, starting on August 12th and ending on December 10th. The itineraries aim to discover a territory rich in historical, architectural, and unique flavors, connecting some of the most important urban centers – Palermo, Syracuse, Agrigento, Messina, Caltanissetta, Trapani – with places that preserve breathtaking views, unique flavors, and ancient history, such as Cefalù, Modica, Ragusa, Tusa, Porto Empedocle, Giarre, and Castelvetrano. Each historic train itinerary is associated with tours and excursions organized by the Tourism, Sports, and Entertainment Department of the Sicilian Region.
