High-impact security operation in Palermo: Extensive checks near the Station

In recent days, a large joint operation called “Alto Impatto” took place at the central station of Palermo and the surrounding area. The operation involved the State Police, Carabinieri, Guardia di Finanza, and personnel from the State Monopolies, working together around the streets surrounding the Central Station, including Via Oreto and the historic districts of Ballarò and Albergheria. The operation included checkpoints, searches, home visits for known criminals, anti-drug services, and administrative checks on businesses. Overall, 312 people were identified, including 173 with police records, and 106 vehicles were checked. 18 traffic fines were issued, and 4 vehicles were seized for violations such as lack of insurance coverage, driving without a license, and failure to update ownership documents. In addition, administrative checks were carried out on 6 commercial establishments. One person was arrested for drug trafficking, and another for crimes of violence and resistance to a public official. In the current month, the railway police have identified 2,778 individuals, including 643 aboard trains. There were 248 patrols deployed, including 17 in plain clothes. Three people were arrested and four were reported. Four expulsion orders were issued.
