Share The city of Termini Imerese is preparing to welcome the “Giro di Sicilia” with the third stage Termini – Caronia, scheduled for Thursday 30 September with departure from Piazza Duomo scheduled at 10.15. It is a challenging route with an ascent to Geraci Siculo – Pollina and arrival, scheduled for around 2 pm, on the Caronia stretch for a total of 180 km. In this edition the Giro di Sicilia includes four stages for a total of 712 kilometers that will take place from 28 September to 1 October, and promises to be spectacular both for the proposed routes, both for the landscapes crossed and for the quality of the participants. Vincenzo Nibali, Cristopher Froome and Aljandro Valverde were also announced at the start. In all, 20 formations will be competing, with a total of 140 participants. They will be accompanied by 100 race support vehicles in addition to 120 employees. “For our community, welcoming this extraordinary event represents a very important showcase for making our beauties known – says the councilor for Sport Pippo Preti -. In the Terranova administration’s program, attention to sport is certainly one of the fundamental points, the tour of Sicily is fully part of this objective “. The runners from Lungomare Cristoforo Colombo will move, guided by the race director’s car, through via Gisira and via Palo Balsamo, to pizza Duomo for the traditional “attendance sheet”. After registration, the runners will cross: via Mazzini, piazza Umberto I, via Vittorio Amedeo up to the intersection of via Armando Diaz, from here they will descend towards the lower part of the city through piazza San Carlo, via Stesicoro, corso Umberto and Margherita, piazza della Vittoria, via Aurora, piazza Stanzione – Europa, until you reach via Libertà where there will be the so-called “km Zero” or rather the start of the competition. All these streets will be “affected” by parking bans, as well as via Belvedere Principe di Piemonte and via Iannelli, near Piazza Duomo, the latter destined for the organization’s logistics. “We are happy to welcome an event of this magnitude – concludes the mayor of Termini Imerese, Maria Terranova -. We have involved local cycling associations who will give their support along the entire city route.
