Helicopter overturns during emergency landing in Rimini: co-pilot from Agrigento injured.

One of the two injured pilots during an emergency landing in Rimini is from Agrigento. The military helicopter they were traveling in, along with a colleague, overturned in a field yesterday afternoon (October 23rd). The pilot, Major Ivan Tabone, a 51-year-old from Agrigento, was the co-pilot. The helicopter, an AgustaWestland AW129 Mangusta, was en route to Ravenna from Rimini. It attempted an emergency landing due to a malfunction, but ended up overturned on its side. Ambulances arrived at the scene to rescue the pilots and transport them to the Bufalini Hospital in Cesena. While both pilots are not in life-threatening condition, the pilot suffered more serious injuries. Local authorities, including the carabinieri, state police, and firefighters, also responded to the incident. The road was temporarily closed to traffic in the direction of Ravenna to allow authorities to manage the situation and redirect traffic in the affected area. The Ravenna prosecutor’s office has opened an investigation into the incident for unintentional injuries.
