Heavy rainstorm and hailstorm in Agrigento: flooded streets, stranded motorists.

After Trapani and its province, a heavy downpour hit Agrigento. Streets turned into rivers, traffic was paralyzed and drivers were stuck, especially along the state roads and in the most peripheral areas of the city. Dozens of calls were made to the fire brigade central office of the provincial command, which carried out numerous interventions to secure light poles, billboards and leaning trees.
The state roads 122 and 640 were flooded: a strong hailstorm with large hailstones made it even worse for those driving. The ice covered the asphalt and some drivers risked losing control of their vehicles. No accidents were reported, but many of them sought shelter under the bridges of the state roads to avoid the worst. Disruptions also occurred on the Imera viaduct, with dozens of cars stopping due to heavy rain and poor visibility.
Many citizens commented on the wave of bad weather in the City of Temples on social media, with Carmela posting a photo of the hailstorm: “Look how much hail fell in Agrigento,” she wrote. “A few minutes of rain and bad weather and everything happened – wrote Giovanni -. Our streets always turn into rivers, and drivers are at great risk.” The situation is critical in several areas of Agrigento, where the fire brigade and civil protection teams rescued drivers and citizens trapped on the ground floor of some buildings due to flooded streets.
