After the health committees, the Aeolian associations also write to the bodies responsible for the planning and management of health services to once again solicit the necessary attention on the local health system.
In a detailed note, transmitted and signed by 30 associations, it is reaffirmed – says Danilo Conti, president of Eolie 2030 – “the need to keep the attention high on a very sensitive issue which on several occasions in the last decade has occupied and worried citizens of the Aeolian Islands also recording very serious facts which resulted in important protests”. The world of Aeolian associations photographs the current situation with respect to the gaps in the local health supply and formulates precise requests both at a national level (presidency of the council, ministry), and at a regional level (presidency, department, department and VI commission at the Ars ), provincial (Asp) and local (Health District and Municipalities), waiting to be met in order to better investigate the critical issues.
“In highlighting the absence of doctors – says Dominga Monte, delegate of Confesercenti Aeolian – with respect to the organic plan in force, the Region and the Asp are asked that this be completed and, therefore, strengthened. Just as it is requested to adapt the hospitalization places, the health services provided by the Health District and the continuity of care principals of the peripheral islands. All aimed at obtaining a health system that is truly able to cope with the real peculiarities and needs of the territory, providing for a hospital that operates in compliance with the safety requirements and essential levels of assistance”.
“The note – points out Maurizio Cipicchia, president of the Aeolian assoimpresa – also makes an express request to the Sicilian region to start the procedure for requesting a birth point in derogation, as provided for by art. 1 Ministerial Decree of 11.11.2015 which allows birth centers to be maintained with volumes of activity lower than 500 deliveries/year and in difficult oro-geographical conditions”.
“The ministry is therefore asked – adds Christian Del Bono, president of Federalberghi – also having regard to the requests put forward jointly by the administrations and municipal councils of the Aeolian Islands, to undertake the necessary initiatives for the purposes of a derogation from the national legislation, in implementation of the Constitution recently amending the art. 119 where in expressly recognizing the peculiarities of the Islands, one undertakes to promote the measures necessary to remove the disadvantages deriving from insularity”.
