Tragedy touched this afternoon at around 5 pm on the beach of Sampieri, a seaside hamlet of Scicli. A sixty-year-old man risked drowning, perhaps for a bit of ruthlessness. The man was on a mat, when the waves dragged him off to a place where he didn't touch and the water was already high. The sixty-year-old was panicked and could not stay afloat. The alarm was triggered by some swimmers who immediately asked for the intervention of 118. A helicopter of the Seus arrived in Sampieri before the rescue vehicle and the doctor, a rescuer, practiced maneuvers to revive the victim. When he regained his senses he was loaded on the helicopter rescue and transferred to the Canizzaro of Catania while he was undergoing assisted breathing.
