A 28-year-old boy was admitted to the Civic emergency room this afternoon for a forearm injury reported while working in a confectionery laboratory. The 118 health workers, the police officers and the staff of the Spresal (Prevention and safety unit in the workplace) of the Asp. intervened. According to an initial reconstruction, the 28-year-old was working with a “dough sheeter” for the production of wafers for cannoli, the typical Sicilian dessert. For reasons yet to be ascertained, the machinery would have activated and the employee’s arm got stuck. Colleagues immediately called 118 asking for an ambulance. The policemen and the staff of the ASP, specialized in the prevention and safety service in the workplace, have started the investigations to verify the compliance with the rules, the conformity of the machinery and the working position of the 28-year-old. The laboratory, at the disposal of the prosecutor, was subjected to seizure until the end of the first phase of investigations.
