"He published fake news against the mayor," acquitted municipal councilor
The publication of a "fake news" on Facebook, which criticized the mayor following the notification of an incorrect Tari bill, ends up in court. A municipal councilor of Montallegro, Giovanni Cirillo, was acquitted, "because the fact does not exist", from the crime of aggravated defamation against the town mayor Caterina Scalia, for having published on his Facebook profile a post with which he claimed "l 'political and administrative inability of the mayor who made the history of the country ".
The sentence was issued by judge Enzo Ricotta. The story stems from the sending, by the Municipality, of some Tari bills, in October 2018. One of these bills was notified by mistake to the registered office of the women's football team, led by Cirillo himself, whose offices, in fact, were located next to the sports association, with a very similar name, the real recipient of the bill.
