Alerted by the 118 Operations Center on the afternoon of Thursday 29 December, the technicians of the Sicilian Alpine and Speleological Rescue, together with the soldiers of the SAGF of the Guardia di Finanza, intervened to rescue a hiker injured on the northern slope of Etna, in the area of the Craters of the 1928 Eruption, at about 2100 meters above sea level.
The girl, in the company of her sister, while she was along the path, injured her right leg due to a fall, unable to continue towards the return road.
The two hikers gave the alarm, providing the operator of the Single Number 112 with their position and telephone number, thanks to which the rescue teams were able to get in touch with them, reach them quickly and provide them with assistance.
Once the injured person had been reached and the injured limb immobilized, the rescuers proceeded to transport the hiker by stretcher to the underlying square of the Citelli refuge, and to entrust her to the 118 doctors who intervened with an ambulance.
The Mountain Rescue of the Forestry Corps is present on site.
