Hailstones the size of balls fall in San Biagio Platani, Sicily

From wildfires to water bombs, with hailstones exceeding seven centimeters in diameter. Sicily is going from one emergency to another within a few hours. As meteorologists had predicted for the weekend, a disturbance is already hitting various areas of the island. Starting from Trapani, where heavy rain arrived in the late morning along with strong winds. Trees have fallen on the roads, unstable billboards have been secured by firefighters, and many roads have been flooded. For example, Via Marsala has turned into a river after a short rain. The bad weather has also hit the province of Agrigento, causing disruptions in Cianciana, Sant’Agelo Muxaro, and San Biagio Platani. Impressive images from Meteo News 24 and many users have shown enormous hailstones falling, damaging outdoor tables of pubs and bars, smashing car windows, and causing damage to parked vehicles. There have also been heavy rains in Sciacca. Just a few hours after the fiery inferno that brought Sicily to its knees, temperatures are dropping on the island. Cooler Atlantic air is advancing towards the central Mediterranean, resulting in a temperature drop already felt in the westernmost parts of the region.
