Grief and anger at funeral of truck driver killed in Palermo

Today is a day of pain, long hugs, and tears. Everyone in the neighborhood is at the Santa Silvia church in Cardillo, Palermo to say their final goodbye to Emanuele Magro. His friends and family are there, but his father Salvatore is absent as he is hospitalized after heart surgery. Emanuele, a 33-year-old truck driver, was hit by a speeding car last Wednesday. He was only noticed by a passing ambulance and taken to the hospital, but despite efforts to save him, he passed away after 5 days. After the mass and a touching tribute, Emanuele’s organs were donated to save other lives. Father Matragna urged everyone to pray for the living and seek justice for Emanuele, as the investigation into the accident continues. As Emanuele is laid to rest, the community is left with questions and the hope that the person responsible for his death will be held accountable.
