Giovanni Palumbo from Palermo is the Italian champion in judo among beginners

Palermo and Sicily continue to collect medals in Judo. Thirteen-year-old athlete Giovanni Palumbo, from the Judo Club Leone in Palermo, grabbed the top spot on the podium at the Italian Championship for Beginners B A-2 in the 66-kilogram weight category. This is his third title since he started practicing the sport at the age of six. He has already won a pre-agonistic title in the children’s category and a Kinder trophy in Tuscany last year. His father, Fabio Palumbo, explained that Giovanni has always made great sacrifices to continue training and participate in tournaments while maintaining a good academic record. The family shares a love for sports, with the father practicing hammer throwing and the sister being passionate about dance. They are grateful to the Leone club for helping Giovanni achieve success and allowing him to participate in competitions.
