Gela’s Ferragosto accident: Waste company offers job to widow of deceased motorcyclist

The dynamics of the fatal accident recorded at dawn on August 15th in Gela, in the province of Caltanissetta, appear clear. The victim, 38-year-old Luigi Russello, was riding an Aprilia scooter and was heading towards the seaside area of Gela, where his family had moved, after finishing his work as an ecological operator. He was traveling in the direction of Licata when an Audi A3, driven by a 40-year-old man, collided with him head-on. The accident occurred around 3:30 am. The investigation by the Gela motorway police is ongoing, and in the meantime, Impianti Srr – which is expected to take over the waste collection service in October – has expressed its intention to hire the victim’s wife. Russello, in fact, would have signed a permanent contract with Impianti in the coming weeks. The president of Srr, Vincenzo Marino, and the administrator of Impianti have decided to support the wife. “After verifying with our lawyers, we will summon Luigi Russello’s wife in the next few days, who was affected by the recent tragedy, to offer her the opportunity to work for the company,” says manager Picone. “It will require consultation with the trade unions for an appropriate agreement. We will evaluate based on her educational qualifications and availability, in order to determine whether to place her within the service or in other related activities.”
