From Rookie to Top of Italy: Sallustro’s Achievement in Motorcycle Racing

Salvo Sallustro has won again. After his Italian Superbike title, the Noto rider has once again become the Italian champion, this time in the Naked category (hill climb). With a clean sweep of wins in the three races in Spoleto (August 4-6), Sallustro secured the title with a day to spare. The celebrations for the newly-crowned Italian champion were not limited to the title, but also included his birthday. It has been a long and competitive championship, with its fair share of problems and difficulties. Despite that, the ultimate goal has been achieved, and now the focus is on the Isle of Man, where the prestigious ManxGP will take place from August 20-28. Sallustro said, “By winning all three races, we secured the title mathematically. It’s a very important result that rewards all the hard work we’ve put in. The greatest satisfaction is winning the title with a nearly original bike. That was the real challenge for us in 2023. We’ve faced difficult moments, especially with the electronics. I believe I could go even faster, but considering the approaching ManxGP, we were a bit cautious. We didn’t want to make any mistakes that could jeopardize what will be a historic event for both me and the entire team. Of course, now our thoughts are on the Isle of Man, but this was also a very important weekend from a psychological point of view because it gave us the necessary confidence ahead of the starting line on the 16th.”
