They traveled with 6.5 kilos of pure cocaine on the A19 highway towards Palermo but they were stopped by the police who arrested them. It's about Saverio Zaccaria, 27 years old, and Vincenzo Fortuna, 41 years old, both residing in the province of Vibo Valentia.
The arrest was carried out, in the act of a crime, by the policemen of the Mobile Squad with the help of the agents of the Traffic Police Subsection of Buonfornello.
The car was noticed by the agents of the Flying Squad while passing near the Buonfornello motorway exit at a high pace and the driver of the car, at the time of payment, lingered excessively, probably hoping that in the meantime the patrol of the Traffic police present nearby.
With the help of colleagues from the Polstrada, the agents of the "Anti-Drug" section of the Mobile Squad immediately blocked the car and to investigate the controls further and believing it plausible that the car was carrying drugs, vehicles and occupants were conducted at the Police Offices , where an accurate search of the car was carried out.
The police dogs "Asko" and "Ulla" also assisted the agents, who, already in the early stages of the control activities, repeatedly reported the presence of drugs on the vehicle.
The agents discovered two hidden compartments under the front seats that opened through a handcrafted cable system and a rudimentary handle in the belt compartment. Inside, 7 cocaine loaves were found, pure, weighing about 6.5 kilograms. The drug, once "worked" and entered the retail market, would have made a figure close to one million euros.
The two Calabrians were arrested and taken to the Lorusso Circondariale di Pagliarelli.
The vehicle in which the large load of drugs was traveling was placed under seizure. Investigations are underway on the origin and final destination of the drug, evidently directed to the Palermo drug-dealing squares.
