Franciscans take to the streets in Alcamo for climate: “Concerned for life on Earth”

A “Silent March for the Earth with Francis”. This morning (December 2) in Alcamo, over fifty people of all ages participated in an initiative organized by the regional council of the Secular Franciscan Order to raise awareness linked to the current UN conference in Dubai to combat climate change. The event featured the use of signs with messages in defense of the environment, starting from the church of Santa Maria di Gesù and walking to the Sanctuary of Maria Santissima dei Miracoli for a moment of prayer and singing with Father Benedetto Cottone. The organizers, as secular Franciscans, are particularly sensitive to Pope Francis’ concerns for life on Earth expressed in his apostolic exhortation Laudato Si. The video includes an interview with Father Carmelo Finocchiaro, assistant of the Secular Franciscan Order in Alcamo.
