In recent days there have been complaints and reports of bites with nails in the center of Catania. The last report is a few hours ago in viale Vittorio Veneto, in a flower bed, near the intersection with via Gabriele D’Annunzio.
Yet the law on the issue is clear: anyone who mistreats or commits a crime on animals risks from 3 to 18 months of imprisonment or an administrative fine ranging from 5,000 euros to 30,000 euros.
The Italian Animalist Party intervened on the issue and has been reporting this problem for several months: “We have recently made several reports to the competent authorities and the police, but evidently our appeals have remained unheard. – explains Patrick Battipaglia provincial coordinator of the Italian Animalist Party -. A really serious fact that repeats itself over time. The areas affected in recent times by the morsels with nails, apparently have not been reclaimed as required by law, but, even more serious, no investigative activities have been started to find those who are guilty of these crimes “.
“But yet – continues and concludes Battipaglia – it would be enough to view the videos of the video surveillance cameras that are not lacking in that area. We ask the municipal administration to really engage in the protection of animals with concrete actions. For our part, we are filing a complaint against unknown persons with the Public Prosecutor’s Office. Hoping that our appeal will finally be of some use before the irreparable happens ”.
