Former Provinces: the extraordinary commissioners have been extended. In Messina remains Santi Trova

The extraordinary commissioners at the top of the former provinces of the island have been extended. The measures were signed by the President of the Region. Nello Musumeci, on the proposal of the councilor for local autonomies, Marco Zambuto. The commissioners will remain in office until 15 September.

The three commissioners of the metropolitan cities have been extended: Salvatore Currao (Palermo), Francesca Paola Gargano (Catania) and Saints Found (Messina). In the six Free Consortia, on the other hand, Vincenzo Raffo (Agrigento) was appointed and Duilio Alongi (Caltanissetta), Girolamo Fazio (Enna), Salvatore Piazza (Ragusa), Domenico Percolla (Syracuse) and Raimondo Cerami (Trapani) were appointed.

In Palermo, Catania and Messina the commissioners have the powers of the Metropolitan Council, given that the functions of metropolitan mayor and president of the Metropolitan City Conference are exercised by the mayors of the three capitals. In the other six former provinces, on the other hand, the commissioners exercise the functions of the president and of the Council of Municipal Free Consortia.
