Former mayor of Favignana, Giuseppe Pagoto, has been acquitted of the charge of environmental pollution. The investigation focused on the management of purification plants and sewage treatment. According to the accusation, the former mayor, the only defendant in the trial, did not make efforts to activate and complete the purifier. Pagoto was represented by lawyer Michele Cavarretta who demonstrated that the administration, between 2015 and 2020, had done everything possible to solve the problem. The prosecutor had also requested acquittal, which was granted with a full decision by Judge Roberta Nodari.
