Former chief accountant of Marsala Municipality released, involved in investigation on coop “Nido d’Argento”

The investigating judge of the Tribunal of Palermo, Elisabetta Stampacchia, has revoked the house arrest ordered, last April 11, for the former chief accountant of the Municipality of Marsala, Nicola Fiocca, involved in an investigation by the Carabinieri of Partinico on the cooperative “Nido d’Argento”, which according to the accusation would have won contracts in the social services sector in some Sicilian municipalities, also speeding up payments in its favor, corrupting officials with money or hiring and gifts (jewelry, oil, panettone).
Fiocca’s release was requested by his defense attorney, Paolo Paladino, after the production of some documents during the guarantee interrogation, with which “it is attested – writes the investigating judge – the retirement of the suspect starting from July 2022 (therefore, there is no longer the danger of reiterating the offense, ed) and proof is given of the behavior of the same person assumed at the time of the execution of the order, the precautionary needs that led to the application of the measure can be considered to have ceased”.
Last April 11, the official was not found at home by the Carabinieri because he was on a cruise.
House arrest was also imposed on municipal employee Maria Pia Falco, until two years ago, when she was transferred to another office precisely because of this investigation, serving in the Social Services sector of the Municipality of Marsala.
The Palermo Prosecutor’s Office believes it has evidence of the delivery of 1200 euros to Maria Pia Falco in 2020 and other amounts in 2021. She would have also appropriated, splitting with the president of “Nido d’Argento,” Giuseppe Gaglio, 28,344.75 euros, residual sum of the Home Care Premium service. Gaglio has been imprisoned. As head of the Social Services sector, according to the accusation, Fiocca would have been complicit in the illegalities.
