Forest rangers and firefighters intervene after two fires in Palermo area, causing damage to vegetation

The firefighters and Civil Protection volunteers intervened to extinguish two fires that broke out in Buonfornello and Campofelice di Roccella, causing damage to the vegetation. In the first fire, volunteers from Giubbe d’Italia in Cefalù also intervened, as requested by the regional Civil Protection department. The second fire destroyed one hectare of land near the mouth of the Grande river. Forestry workers and firefighters extinguished the fire here. In Campofelice di Roccella, municipal police officers fined 50 landowners who had not cleared their land of brushwood. Investigations are ongoing to determine if the fire started from one of these plots.
