Forest officer killed in accident, Giarratana in tears for Marinella Sigona

The community of Giarratana, a town in the province of Ragusa, is devastated after the death of Marinella Sigona, a forestry worker, in a car accident. Many people knew and loved Marinella, and are now rallying around her husband and two daughters, who are also affected by this tragedy. Investigations are currently underway to determine the cause of the firetruck overturning, in which Sigona was traveling with six colleagues, all of whom were injured. The accident occurred on State Road 194, as the team was returning from a complex intervention in the Monterosso Almo area, where there was a major fire. Marinella, who would have turned 55 in October, is remembered as a happy woman who was deeply dedicated to her family and her work. The mayor, Bartolo Giaquinta, has declared a day of mourning in Giarratana, where the funeral will take place. The community is coming together to support the family during this difficult time.
