Foam in the sea, bathing prohibition in a section of the coast in Carini.

#Palermo
Temporary bathing ban in the sea area in front of Via Faggio, Carini. The decision was made by the municipality through a municipal order issued on August 3rd, due to the presence of foam in the water indicating possible pollution in the area. The ban will only be lifted once the water samples taken by the Health Protection Agency (ASP) in Palermo meet legal limits.

While awaiting documentation on the nature and source of the pollution, the ban specifically applies to the coastal area located between 50 meters to the left and 50 meters to the right of the projection of Via Faggio into the sea. This area has been marked with signs indicating the bathing ban. The suspicious foam was reported to the municipality by the Terrasini Maritime District Office and the Health Department. The Health Department has initiated the necessary investigations to determine the extent of the pollution and its potential sources in order to ensure the safety of bathers.

“Upon visual inspection, no critical issues were found,” stated Marco Venuti, commander of the municipal police. “Furthermore, we have spoken to several residents who have all confirmed the presence of foam about ten days ago. However, it appears to have disappeared now. We have requested a follow-up inspection with the Regional Agency for Environmental Protection (ARPA) to conduct necessary sampling.”
