Fishing boat rescues over 200 migrants off Lampedusa coast

A fishing boat with 200 to 300 migrants on board was rescued off the coast of Lampedusa by Coast Guard and Finance Guard patrol boats. The sea is very rough. However, the military managed to hook the boat and now the migrants are traveling towards the largest of the Pelagie Islands, where they will arrive around midnight. They will all be taken to the contrada Imbriacola hotspot, where there are only 6 migrants currently. The prefecture, which has been in contact with the rescuers for hours, already plans to transfer a significant number of them by tomorrow morning.
