First direct flight New York-Palermo reality: “We will transport 20,000 passengers in summer 2024,” assures Neos airline.

The first Neos direct flight from JFK airport in New York arrived in Palermo today, departing at 11:25 back to New York. This weekly frequency will be accompanied by another one with a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, carrying 355 seats, departing every Monday at 5 pm from New York and arriving in Palermo at 7:20 am on Tuesday, departing again at 11:25 am to be back in New York at 2:50 pm, offering a total of 710 weekly seats. This is the only flight from Sicily to the United States, operating for the entire summer season and planning to have 3 flights per week next year. Neos aims to transport 20,000 passengers in the summer of 2024. The Sicilian Tourism Department has launched initiatives to promote Sicily through advertising campaigns on Neos flights and B2B meetings with US and Sicilian tourism operators.

Neos CEO Carlo Stradiotti stated their commitment to the New York route and the growth of their network in North America. The flight is seen as an opportunity to boost tourism in Sicily and strengthen cultural exchanges. The flight will also transport cargo, offering 10 tons per flight. Neos is expanding its flight schedule and fleet to meet the demands of various markets. By 2024, three new B737-8 Max planes will be added to their fleet.
