Firefighters intervene in the central station area of Palermo due to dumpster fires

Again dumpster fires this evening in the area around Palermo’s central station. The firefighters intervened with two fire trucks to extinguish the containers on fire in Via Rosario Gregorio (in the photo), at the corner with Via Lincoln, and in Via Balsamo at the exit of the train station. Evidently, a single person set fire to the dumpsters, often overflowing with garbage.

In the area of Via Rosario Gregorio, a makeshift dump of furniture and furnishings often forms, which the Rap cleans, but which is used as a deposit within a few days. Residents have repeatedly requested the installation of surveillance cameras. Also this evening, next to the burning dumpster, there were abandoned mattresses.
